Four years ago, Virginia native Reagan Boggs stepped back from her musical career to devote herself to raising her son. Now in the midst of a busy touring schedule, the talented Americana artist is planning to release Quicksand on February 11, 2014, her first new record in nearly seven years. If you missed her heart-tugging blend of country, blues, and soul the first time around (as I did), you can take the opportunity to dig through her previously released, critically acclaimed work while waiting for the new album.
Start with the song attached below. Penned by friend and fellow singer-songwriter Scotty Melton, “The Way I’m Lovin’ You” appeared on Boggs’ 2006 album Never Looking Behind. Eschewing earthly possessions in favor of emotional intimacy, she urges a beau to let his feelings be known through the simplest of actions: “You don’t have to say I love you/You don’t have to say I do/You just love me the way I’m loving you,” she sings against a backdrop of glistening steel. It’s a sentiment and song to treasure.
