Congratulations, Runaway Angel!

Congratulations, Runaway Angel!

The nominees for the 2015 Country Music Association of Ontario (CMAO) Awards were recently announced, and the ladies of Runaway Angel walked away with four nods: the Rising Star Award, Group or Duo of the Year, Single of the Year (“Our Story”) and  Songwriters of the Year (“Our Story”).  The nominations feature several other favorites (Lindi Ortega, Michelle Wright, Small Town Pistols), but I’m mainly rooting for Runaway Angel’s name to be called on May 25.

Rising Star Award:
Leah Daniels (Spin Music)
Riki Knox (Independent)
Brea Lawrenson (Independent)
Northern Roads (Independent)
Brooklyn Roebuck (Independent)

Leah Daniels/Beverley Mahood/Bruce Wallace (Go Back – Leah Daniels)
Todd Clark/Tim Hicks/Gavin Slate (Here Comes The Thunder – Tim Hicks)
Ann Chaplin/Cadence Grace/Stacy Zegers (Our Story – Runaway Angel)
Alyssa Bonagura/Patricia Conroy/ Amanda Wilkinson/Tyler Wilkinson (I Only Smoke When I Drink – Small Town Pistols)
Patricia Conroy/Danick Dupelle/Tebey (Now I Do – Tebey)

Last year in a post about “Our Story”, I mentioned that “Runaway Angel’s own story isn’t one of luck; rather it’s reliant on determination and belief.” Their journey from solo artists…

…to a tight trio has been a pleasure to follow.  As they sing in “Run Angel Run” there’s “no guarantees where the road’s gonna lead you”, but for everyone who’s watched their tremendous growth, it’s been quite a ride.
