As I stated in 2018, compiling an annual list of my favorite songs provides me with the welcome opportunity to revisit the music I’ve enjoyed throughout the year. 2020 was a year of great pain, but it was also a time that forced me to count my blessings. If you stumble upon this list, I ask you to not only listen to the featured songs but further explore the artists’ discography. These talented musicians deserve our support.
This isn’t a “best of” list that includes rankings; think of it as a list made out of love.
Just as they have in previous years, the voices on this list span genres, locations, and degrees of experience. Music, thankfully, crosses boundaries that may have previously seemed insurmountable. What all of these artists share is an ability to grip the hearts and imaginations of their listeners, and impact their lives for the better. Hopefully after listening to the selections below you’ll feel comforted, understood, and inspired.
